Summary
Lisa Nevett is a classical archaeologist with a particular interest in using material culture as a source for social history. To date, her research has focused on domestic architecture, exploring how the construction, decoration and articulation of space within Greek and Roman houses can shed light on questions such as: the development of the Greek citizen-state (polis); the nature of relationships between men and women in domestic contexts; and patterns of interaction between different cultural groups in the Greek and Roman worlds. She is also interested in methodological problems affecting the interpretation of artifact assemblages in archaeological contexts and has been involved in archaeological field projects in Greece, Turkey, Libya and Britain.
