Ophthalmology, optometry, opticians, eyeglasses

An optician, also known as a dispensing optician, is a person who is trained to dispense prescriptions for eye correction. An optician is commonly defined as someone who only makes and dispenses eyeglasses and other eye correction, and does not perform medical tests, those being the duties of a optometrist (also known as an ophthalmic optician) or ophthalmologist, although he may fit contact lenses and deal with eye problems arising.
