ADVANCE was initiated at the National Science Foundation in 2001 in an effort "to develop systemic approaches to increase the representation and advancement of women in academic science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) careers, thereby contributing to the development of a more diverse science and engineering workforce. ADVANCE focuses on ensuring that women faculty with earned STEM degrees consider academia as a viable and attractive career option."

The National Science Foundation (NSF) has invested more than $130M over the past decade to explore barriers and bridges to recruitment, retention, and advancement of STEM women. This group will provide opportunity to discuss research, promising practices and experiences in the academy. Attention will also focus on intersectionalities of identify (e.g., women from historically disadvantaged groups (e.g.,, African-American, Hispanic-American, Native-American); lesbian women; academic mothers; international women....).

"Inclusive Faculty Friendly" and/or "Family Friendly" Academic Institutions--a Zebra with Spots or Not?

I launched this group as a means of sharing ADVANCE related information with other faculty, women and men, from ADVANCE and non-ADVANCE institutions. I am interested in hearing from others regarding their experiences of academic institutions. Is your experience that academic institutions are inclusively faculty friendly? What are practices that help enhance that experience, specifically for women (women of color, international women, lesbian women, women who have chosen to be childless, mothers...etc.)

Thanks for launching this group, i have found it the most popular group in mechanical engineering and that's why i gioined it. Please check my article: THE PRACTICAL DIFFERENCES BETWEEN MICRO INJECTION MOULDING AND TRADITIONAL INJECTION MOULDING

What do you think about THE POSSIBILITY OF ACHIEVING TO MICRO PRECISION IN MICRO INJECTION MOULDING ?

What do you think about THE POSSIBILITY OF ACHIEVING TO MICRO PRECISION IN MICRO INJECTION MOULDING ? I strongly believe that in Micro Injection Moulding there is no such thing as micro precision.
