Jeffrey William Lewis wrote a piece of Origins titled "The Human Use of Human Beings: A Brief History of Suicide Bombing,” which argues that suicide bombers should be first thought of as a type of military technology. This, he says, is more useful than focusing on suicide bombing as an act of individual fanaticism. You can find his whole article here.

But, however useful, isn’t it a good plan to understand the motivations that push individuals to become pieces of military technology?
